When is the best time to Sail to Japan from Shanghai ?

Probably the worst month to sail to Japan is in September, because that is typhoon season. January, following the Japanese New Year, and February are great months for winter sports, and you'll experience sunny weather, less crowds, and better prices than in the holiday season. Bear in mind the sun sets at about 5:00 PM in January. The first weeks of March are also great; you'll see those cherry blossoms and avoid Spring Break prices and crowds. April is heralded as a great month, because its spring and gorgeous, but again, avoid late April and the first week of May to free yourself of crowds and price hikes for Golden Week. The last 3 weeks of May are wonderful, because it isn't as hot as the summer, and tourist traffic has ebbed. June to the middle of July constitute the rainy season, and you need to know that July is a very busy festival month. School in Japan does not reconvene until the end of August. Also, Obon week is in mid August and this will mean higher prices and lots of crowds. October in Japan is a work of art, with few crowds, or price issues to report. November is also a good month for a visit to Japan with few if any crowds and lower prices.
